I wrote the original of this in 1986, and it was somewhat different then. This, obviously, does not reflect *my* point of view, but is *a* possible view (a depressing one). Possibly, in particularly depressed moments, Magneto's own, though I very much doubt he'd write music about it. (Magneto does not seem like the type to go on vocal morose self-pity kicks.) It's a song, and sooner or later I will probably put it up at my web site once I iron the bugs out of my MIDI keyboard. I don't know how to write music, but I can play it. Lament for a Mutant Who will mourn you when you are dead? Who will mourn you when you are dead? Your children still look at you with dread Who will mourn you when you are dead? Who will cry when you are gone? Who will cry when you are gone? Your followers haven't known you so long Who will cry when you are gone? Who will miss you when you're not here? Who will miss you when you're not here? Your former allies will shed nary a tear? Who will miss you when you're not here? Who will carry your coffin on down? Who will carry your coffin on down? You've no friends or lovers to shoulder you down Who will carry your coffin on down? What good did you do when you were here? What good did you do us when you were here? You've left us a legacy, hatred and fear What good did you do when you were here? Who will mourn you when you are dead? Who will mourn you when you are dead? The world'd just as soon as cut off your head Who will mourn you when you are dead?
