Paramount owns all characters, etc. etc. etc. The songs in this except Passion are writen by other people, they have copy writes etc. etc. etc. Comments appreciated, no flames will be read. Even Q was There < The jungle was moist and sweet smelling.> He loved her so fiercely that it would have stunned him, had they not been his feelings. He remembered the first time she REALLY smiled at him, their first kiss. But most of all, he remembered the jungle. He should have proposed. God, what an idiot he been not to. Ten years later Will Riker mentally kicked himself. He and Deanna were friends. Very good friends, but only friends. They had told each other that they no longer had those. . . . . . feelings. He had told the truth, at the time. But recently he had realized how much he still loved her. He kept it hidden carefully whenever she was around. For the emotions were so strong that it would be the same as holding up a sign that read: I STILL LOVE YOU. The moments he enjoyed the most were when the ghost of a very familiar expression would flash through her face. It were these times when he could dance. Deanna was on sure leave, much to his disdain, it was without him. He smiled as a memory surfaced. They had been on sure leave on Betazed together. They had been talking about the good old days. He hadn't meant for it to happen, but the next thing he knew they were kissing. That had been when Lwaxana Troi had decided to walk over and act like this was the best present in the world. " Ten more minutes" thought Riker, " and she would have had a better present." He remembered how Deanna had sighed and given her mother a look. It had been then that he realized that he would always love Deanna Troi. He watched jealously as her slim figure walked around sickbay. He thought about what he had said to her on Ke'Prytt. " Then little by little. . . . I realized I didn't have those feelings anymore." He had told the truth. He was no longer in love with his best friends wife, now he was in love with his best friend. He had tried to keep it a secret, but it had been then that he realized he could no longer hide it. Jean-Luc Picard could not help but be entranced by Beverly Crushers unmatched beauty. A Beverly was extremely confused. One minute she had been in her quarters, the next she was in France. She appeared to be in a chapel and something that looked like a funeral was going on. She knew some of the people there. Guinan, Deanna, Will, Gordie, Worf, Data, even Q was there. She couldn't see who was in the coffin, but someone was singing. The song was called passion, it went; A man of passion a man of love trapped behind a mask a mask known by many a man known by one. He lost a friend gained a crew gave his life for me and you and today we say goodbye to the man we loved and we say you were loved by all. The Borg they ran when he was there he was so smart, so very rare he said goodbye so dignified but how can we say goodbye to our friend how can we say goodbye to our friend how can we say goodbye. . . . to our friend. Crusher observed that as the song was sung, people began to cry. Will got up and started to speak. " Yes, how can we say goodbye to our friend. The answer is we cannot. He had a sense about him that made him unforgettable." Crusher watched in amazement as the normally unflappable second in command began to cry softly. He stopped and continued. " But if you think about it, he's not really dead. . . . . . as long as we keep him alive in our hearts." Then Beverly heard six words that made her sob hysterically, six words that made her entire world seem to cave in. And those six words were " Goodbye Jean-Luc, we're gonna miss you." That was about the time she fainted. B Deanna thought about what had just happened. She had been walking into ten forward, the next second she was in San Francisco. It looked like a funeral was in progress. She knew some people there. Captain Picard, Guinan, Lwaxana, Gordie, Worf, Beverly, Data, even Q was there. Captain Picard was giving a sermon, presumably about the deceased. Maybe someone from the ship had died. " He was a proud man, not afraid to give his life for the good of others," said Picard. People were crying, oh God even the captain was crying. " He was the best Starfleet had to offer. Now," he said gazing up at the sky " he's the best ‘they' have to offer." A song had started to play. She recognized it as twentieth century. Did you ever know that you're my hero you're everything I wish I could be I can fly higher then an eagle ‘cause you are the wind beneath my wings. She couldn't see who was in the coffin, but it was obvious they were loved by all. Deanna realized that as the song was sung, she couldn't read any of them. They were so wrapped up in being sad, that it was all they could think about. The only person she could read was Beverly. Deanna searched for an answer in Beverly's thoughts, but all she found was sorrow. " Of all the people I have worked with-" said Picard. Then she heard five words that made her universe shatter. Mostly because they were in past tense. Picard continued " Will Riker was the best." Deanna couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her mind reached out to him she knew it was true, her beloved imzadi was gone. C Will was very confused. One minute he had been in the turbolift, the next he was on Betazed. There was a funeral in Progress. He knew that immediately because everyone was naked. That could have meant a wedding, but everyone looked sad. He knew some people there. Captain Picard, Lwaxana, Guinan, Beverly, Gordie, Data, Worf, even Q was there. Of all the people there, the most visibly shaken were Lwaxana, Guinan, and Beverly. The three of them looked physically ill. EXTREMELY ill. Lwaxana had dark smudges under her eyes. Guinan, who normally was the most confident person on the ship was as stiff as a board. And Beverly's normally perfect skin was a lovely shade of green. Picard was a different ball game. The captain, who you could rarely get an ounce of emotion out of, was wandering, as if unsure of what purpose he served. His head was bent down and he looked positively depressed. For him, this was the equivalent of sobbing hysterically. Then Will saw two people he was sure he would never see again. Wendy Roper and Chandra Xerx, two of Deanna's best friends. Wendy looked like someone had shot her with a phaser. Her skin was pale and she was definitely terrified. Chandra's face made it seem to him that life as she knew it was over. A song was playing. The realization hit him like lightning. He had been to confused to notice what was going on. It was twentieth century. Every time a certain line was played people began to cry. The line was And I will always love you will always love you. Now people had begun to walk over to him. They would say things like; "I'm really sorry Will," " Keep your chin up," or " We all feel the same way." Not wanting people to think he was insane he would respond accordingly. Everyone had begun to leave, but he noticed that Lwaxana was talking to the captain. He leaned forward so he could here there conversation, hopeful that he would find the missing puzzle piece. " I can't believe my baby's gone," said Lwaxana. " We're all going to miss her Lwaxana," said Picard and that's when it clicked. " Oh my god," he whispered. " Deanna." D Jean-Luc was very confused. He had been in his ready room, and then he was in Pennsylvania. The Poconos to be exact. Beverly loved it here. It was so quite and beautiful. Turning his attention back to where he was, he noticed some familiar faces. Guinan, Will, Deanna, Gordie, Data, Worf,Whesley, even Q was there. Everything was different, no one looked like themselves. The air around them seemed to have the stench of depression. Will, who was normally cheerful and fun, had his head bent down. And his face was serious. Guinan, who always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye, was frowning and the twinkle had disappeared. Deanna, oh God Deanna. Her smile lines had been erased, replaced by a sad, yet serious face. Gordie looked very strange. You could see tears coming out of his eyes. But because of the Visor, they seemed to come from no where. Data as usual, had a bland expression. Worf looked like a very, very angry Klingon, which in its self was something to be avoided. A song was playing. It was Beverly's favorite. He played it whenever they had dinner. Memories, in the corner of my mind water color memories of the way we were- scattered pictures of the smile you left behind. He remembered this place. When they had gone on sure leave together, they had come here, right here and had lunch. He noticed that he was no longer in uniform. Instead, he was wearing black loose fitting trousers and a green top. It was Beverly's favorite, open almost at the waist. A thought struck him, he was at a funeral. That was why everyone was sad. Maybe someone from the ship had died. Then he got an idea, maybe he had died. No one had said anything to him, maybe that's why the crew was there. But that theory was smashed when Will came up to him. " Sir, I just want you to understand, that, well, I know how you feel I mean if it were Deanna. . . . ." Will's voice trailed off. Picard decided that he should pretend he knew what was going on. " Thank you Will. I know what you mean." Which was in all honesty, a lie. He had no idea what the hell had come over everybody. Then Deanna walked over. " Sir, I just want you to know that we all miss Beverly." " What?" was all he could manage. " When she died," Deanna began. But he hadn't heard her. For he had already fallen to the ground unconscious. A " Beverly? Beverly are you alright?" Beverly began to stir. She felt a warm hand on her arm, and the voice was familiar some how. " Beverly, can you here me?" it was Deanna. " Deanna," was all she could manage. " Beverly, are you alright?" "Jean-Luc, where's Jean-Luc?" she mumbled. " Beverly, don't you remember anything? Jean-Luc died." " No, no. I had breakfast with him this morning, I think." Her memory's were beginning to fade, replaced by new terrifying ones. Then it hit her. She had, had, had breakfast with him, but it was a week ago. The morning he proposed. " Beverly, I was wondering . . . . . no one really knows how he died. You do, could you tell me how? I don't have to tell anyone." " You can tell Will." Beverly told Deanna about the captains death. Beverly and Jean-Luc were having there usual breakfast ( okay, maybe it was a little unusual since they had been dating for about four months.) They were discussing their plans for that evening. Suddenly Jean-Luc excused himself and said he would be back soon. " I wonder what's going on," Beverly thought. Jean-Luc reappeared holding something behind his back. " Jean-Luc, what have you got behind your back?!?" " I wanted to give you something."was all he replied. " I know that. I meant what is it?" He sat back down and started to move his hand out from behind his back. Suddenly she saw that it was a jewelry box. Maybe he wanted to give her earrings. " Beverly," he began. " Yes Jean-Luc?" " will you marry me?" He opened the box and inside was a sparkling diamond ring. It was set in gold with an inscription on the back. It read; To the love of my life. " Jean-Luc. . . . . . I don't know what to say." " A simple yes will be fine." " No, I can't say yes. I'm not ready for marriage." " I see." He said quietly. " But please, keep the ring. I want you to have it incase you change your mind." " Are we still on for tonight? I don't want us to stop dating." " You bet," he said. " but I have to know one thing. You do love me don't you?" " Of course I do. But I'm just not ready." " The rest of the day went the way you know." Beverly told Deanna. " But then when I was captured, things took an interesting turn. " I demand to know what has happened to my chief medical officer" Picard yelled on the bridge as the Romulan told him that he had Crusher. " She is scheduled to be executed in one hour." Replied the Romulan. Picard motioned to Worf to cut the transmission. " We need to get her of that planet," he said. " I'll go sir." Came Will's steady answer. " no you won't. I'm going- and don't argue with me." he said before Will could do anything. With that headed towards the turbolift. On the planet below, Beverly Crusher was startled to see Jean-Luc Picard transport into her cell. " Beverly, are you alright? Did they hurt you?" He noticed that she was bruised and had a cut on her head. " Bastards!" he muttered. One of the Romulans had noticed the new arrival and took out his phaser. Before either of them knew what was happening a phaser blast hit Beverly in the stomach. She crumpled. He took another shot and this time it hit Picard in the head. Beverly was awake and the last thing she said to him was " Yes." " I told you to keep the ring." he said with good humor. Then he was gone. " They worked on him in sickbay for hours, but nothing worked. When I got the news, I thought I would die." " Then it was you." said Troi. " I felt a sense of dread." " Who did he leave all his things to?" " Who do you think?" Deanna asked. " Let me guess. The Federation." " Wrong, but thanks for playing our game. He left almost all of his belongings to you. He left the rest like textbooks and things that someone might use to Whesley." " He really did love me"she said in wonderment. I mean, I knew he loved me, but you mean he even left me his Shakespeare? Looking at the ring on her finger, Beverly Crusher began to cry. B Deanna couldn't believe it. She was sure she had, had had, had lunch with him this morning. But everyone was telling her that he had, had died about two weeks ago. Then she got an idea. Maybe she had, had been so depressed that she had, had imagined it all. She was no longer in uniform. She was wearing a Black dress with a pearl necklace. Her hair was in a knot above her head. Then she remembered. She remembered it all. "RED ALERT" came Picards voice over the inter comn. Deanna and Will practically vaulted out of Ten Forward. The captain had, had never let everyone know about a red alert, which meant something was very wrong. Once they got to the bridge, they tried to find out what was happening. They didn't succeed. Finally Will asked if he and Counsler Troi could have a private meeting. They found out that intruders were reported and had, had already showed their use of weaponry. " I'm going to stay in here for a while number one. You have the bridge." " Yes sir." Riker walked onto the bridge mere moments before a person walked onto the bridge. He had, had never seen the species before, that made him a little nervous. " You are to hand over control of this ship," it said in a surprisingly cool tone. " Never." Came Wills firm reply. From inside his ready room Picard heard what sounded like " COMMANDER RIKER!!!" It was Whesley. " WILL!!!" came Deanna's desperate cry. Picard Ran out of his ready room so fast that he actually as if he were flying. But he didn't have time to think about that, he had, had to know what happened. He saw Riker lying on the floor unmoving. " What happened?!?" he asked. " The intruder, the one who Worf killed, shot him!" Whesley shouted. " Picard to doctor Crusher!" he shouted. " What?!?" came Beverly's reply. It was becoming rapidly clear that many others had, had been hurt!!! " It's Will, he's been shot!" he said desperately. " Transport him to Sickbay." Seconds later, Picard, Troi and the unconsous Will appeared in Sickbay. Beverly ran up to them upon seeing the injured second in command. " Stabilize him!" she snapped at no one in particular. So Picard stabilized him. She felt his pulse and gave a sigh. " Computer, record time of death." " What?" Deanna felt her legs beginning to buckle as she spoke. " You didn't even try!!! You let him die!!! It's your fault, I HATE you!!! You're the worst doctor in the world!!! You're the worst friend in the world!!! I'll never forgive you, I hope you die!!!" Deanna screamed. She started running to Crusher, making it obvious that she would stop at nothing short of killing her best friend. She heard a hissing, and then she was out like a light. Now, Deanna realized that before she had, had been hypoed, she had, had actually punched Beverly in the jaw. She felt horrible, Beverly had, had a bruise on her cheek and it was clear that it hurt like hell. She had, had never said sorry for it. When she had, had woken up, Beverly wasn't there. She had, had been told that Crusher had, had taken a rest from Sickbay. That didn't sound like Beverly at all. Especially during a crisis. She probed deeply and found that she did not know her own strength. Beverly was in surgery for a broken jaw. Now she decided to make up. She walked over to Beverly and began to explain before she realized that Crusher had, had moved to another part of the chapel. She must really be mad at me. Deanna thought. Beverly was the most forgiving person in the world, yet she would not give her a chance to explain. Before she got another chance to run, Deanna took Beverly by the arm and went outside. However, Beverly was apparently not in a forgiving mood. As soon as Deanna let go, Beverly walked right back in. Deanna decided that there was only one alternative. She was going to have to think to Beverly. She had, had never tried before, but she hoped they were close enough so it would work. Beverly, I need to talk to you!!! Deanna's voice ringing in her head was enough to make Beverly stop. She turned around to face her ex best friend. " What do you want?!?" she asked in a voice that made it clear what she wanted. " Want to try for my eye this time? Or maybe my stomach. Oh, how about my nose? You'll probably be happy to see me bleed!!!" " Bever--" " I can't believe you hit me!!! I thought we were friends and you hit me!!! I was the second person on the ship to even talk to you and you thank me by breaking my jaw!!! It's to bad you passed out as soon as you hit me!!! You would have loved seeing my mouth bleeding!!! And should have been at the surgery, boy you should have been there, you would have been pretty damn cheery seeing me in so much pain!!!" Even as she spoke, Beverly was crying." Beverly, please listen to me!!!" As Beverly spoke, tears began to sting in her eyes. " Well look, I'm not going to waist my time with a backstabbing jerk!!! So as far as I'm concerned, we are no longer anything other than crew mates!!!" Having said what was on her mind, Beverly marched back inside. Beverly, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to!!! Like hell you didn't!!! And let me tell you somethi-- " What the? I talked to you, but I never said a word." Beverly said in amazement. " I thought to you." Now that I know I can, I don't have to talk anymore. Someone hit me in the jaw and it hurts to talk. I don't care about your problems. I don't care what you're feeling about Will, it doesn't give you a right to hit me!!! Now if you don't go away so help me, no matter how close we were I'll have you court marcelled!!! Beverly--- I thought we were friends. We were, until you decided Will's death was my fault and hit me!!! But, I will talk to you, but only talking. I'm getting a headache. " Okay, now can we talk?" without waiting for a reply, Deanna continued. " Beverly, Will you forgive me?" " As long as for the time being, you keep your hands in my sight." " Beverly, I'm really sorry I hit you. I was just so angry that he was dead. I needed someone to take it out on, you seemed the most logicle. Do you forgive me?" " I forgive you, but I worn you that from now on, I'm calling you Mike Tysson." " Who's that? A famous romulan?" " I'm not going to get into that." With that, Deanna & Beverly walked into the chapel and together let their grief overwhelm them. C He couldn't believe it. Deanna, his one true love, his Imzadi, dead. The word made him shiver. After all they had, had been through together. He didn't even know what happened. All he knew was one minute, he had, had been in a different place, a different time. He just had, had no idea where or when he had, had been. People were going to think he was an idiot, but he was going to have to ask someone about Deanna. He walked over to the person he knew he could trust the most to tell him the absolute truth. Captain Picard. If it was his fault, he knew Beverly would lie about it so he wouldn't feel bad. But he also knew that the captain wouldn't tell him a lie. Not even at the security of the Federation, would Picard tell a lie to a member of his crew. " Sir, I was wondering if you could tell me how Deanna died," Will said. " Will, I think you need a very long vacation," Picard said staring at him in disbelief. " I mean you were right in the middle of it. How could you not remember?" " sir, please. I don't remember anything except that I'm Will Riker, I'm an officer aboard the Enterprise, etc. etc. etc." Looking at Picards face, he wasn't sure he wanted to know anymore. But he had, had to find out or chances were that he would go completely out of his mind. " Alright, I'll tell you." The last phasor blast hit Deanna squarely in the head. Will dropped to his nee's to find out if she was alive. He didn't like the answer. It was barely. " Deanna!" He shouted. " Riker to Crusher" " Crusher here, what is it Will?" " Deanna's been shot!!! She's barely alive!!!" " Bring her to Sickbay immediately." About five seconds later, Will and Deanna appeared in Sickbay. Rushing over to Dr. Crusher, Will put Deanna on a med table. Beverly took out her scanner to see how Deanna was doing. " Damn!!!" was all she said. " Computer, record time of death." she said. That was when another doctor rushed over and dropped to her knee. " What are you doing?" she asked. " Look down sir and you'll see." Looking down, Beverly Crusher noticed that Riker had, had gone into shock. D " Beverly!!!" came the desperate cry for help. " Where's Beverly?!?" " Beverly isn't here captain, Beverly. . . . . . . died." the last word sounded so choked with pain that he knew it was someone he knew. " Captain? It's me Guinan." Guinan, he had, had once known a Guinan. They had, had been friends. Guinan was here. He knew he had, had a lot of questions to ask, but one of them mattered the most. " Beverly, I want to talk to Beverly." " Beverly's gone Jean-Luc." " Where did she go?" " She died." Guinan sounded so sad he knew it was true. He opened his eyes to see everyone from the senior crew ( and Whesley) standing over him. " I'm alright," he said with a sigh " I just want to know why I was never told about Beverly." " You most feel pretty bad sir, you were in the middle of it." ------------About two days later---------------- Deanna Troi was very concerned about the captain. She decided to go talk to him. When she got to his cabin, the door was open. So she walked in only to find him not there. Then she heard a voice. They were singing and it was deffinetly live. She didn't recognize the song, but she was sure of one thing, the person was a good singer. Then she realized they must have written it. It was a good song. She stepped forward to listen. I couldn't believe it when I heard the news today I had, had to come and here it straight from you. They said she gone someone took her life away from the look about this ship, I see it's true. So tell me all about it tell me about the way she died and tell me one thing more before I cry. Tell me; how am I supposed to live without her now that I've been loving her so long. And how am I supposed to carry on when all that I've been living for is gone. "Goodbye Beverly, I loved you with all my heart. I'm just sorry I couldn't protect you with all my being. I wrote that song for you, I hope you liked it. Those weren't the real words though. I wrote it for tonight, I was going to propose to you. I guess you deserve to here the real one." The singers velvety voice started all over again, the same tune, but different words. She realized that these words would have been perfect for a proposal. I couldn't believe it when I heard the news today I had, had to come and here it straight from you. They said you were leaving someone swept your heart away from the look upon your face I see it's true. So tell me all about tell about the plans you're making and tell me one thing more before I go. Tell me how am I supposed to live without you now that I've been loving you so long and how am I supposed to carry on when all that I've been living for is gone. Then Deanna realized something amazing, it was the captain. She had, had no idea he could sing or write, but it was very obvious right now that he could do both. Something still bothered her though. How had, had he played the music? It had, had sounded like something she knew about, but couldn't place her finger on it. Then it hit her. It was an electric guitar, a musical instrument from the late twentieth century. There were less then ten thousand in working order. She wondered where he had, had gotten it. Nevertheless, she was here to help the captain and that was what she was going to do. " Sir, can I speak to you?" " Of course, what can I do for you?" " You can help me help you." she said in a tone that made it clear who was going to win if an argument started. " Alright, alright. But first did you here anything, or did you just walk in?" " You mean did I here you singing very well, while playing a song very well, when you wrote the song? No I didn't here a word. By the way, where did you get your guitar?" "Beverly gave it to me for my birthday. Please don't tell anyone I can sing." he sounded as if he were pleading. " Why not? You have a great voice." " Because, the only person who knew I could sing was Beverly and I liked it that way, so don't tell anyone." " Fine." she sighed. Sitting down, they talked together about all the good times with Beverly. A Beverly went back into the funeral, having controlled her sobbing to a soft cry. B As they walked back into the chapel, Deanna and Beverly discussed the late, William T. Riker. C Will Riker woke up only to find that Deanna's death was not a dream, it was a nightmare. D Walking into Sickbay, Jean-Luc Picard found that he could not forget that one week ago, someone would have been there to greet him. MISHUGINA Will Riker walked onto the bridge just as Deanna Troi walked onto the bridge, which was five seconds before Beverly Crusher walked onto the bridge, which was five seconds before Jean-Luc Picard walked onto the bridge. Ten seconds later, two more Beverly's, Will's, Deanna's, and Jean-Luc's walked onto the bridge. " What the hell?" the bridge crew chorused. " Q!!!" the duplicates of themselves chorused. An instant later Q appeared. " What can I do for all-" he paused to count- " three of red, three of Mon capitan, three of more beard less brain cells, and three of empathic woman?" the innocence on his face was disgusting. " Q!!!" the Picards yelled ( since they were in essence, the same person they had, had a tendency to talk in unison.) " I demand to know why you have done thi-" but his voice trailed off when he saw Deanna. " Deanna!!! Oh Deanna, you were dead, I'm sure you were dead, but now you're not, you're alive!!!" " What do you mean?" Deanna asked. " I was never dead." " Yes you were," Beverly confirmed. " It's true, but now you're not, Gods, Deanna I love you!!!" Riker said. So overjoyed. " Now wait a minute," said Beverly 2. " Will is the one who was dead." " She's right." Deanna two agreed. " Yes they're both right." Picard 2 said. " Now just hold on," Will 3 said. " The captain died." " Yes, he did." Deanna3 confirmed. " Yes, but now he's not and I want everyone to know that I'm so happy!!!" Beverly 3 said. " Hold on," Will 2 said, "Beverly died." " Yes she did." Picard said. ( around here everyone had, had stopped counting and was just being discombobulated) " But now she hasn't and I want everyone to know that I love her." Turning to Beverly, he said " Beverly, oh God, I missed you. Listen would you like to continue this in my quarters?" " Deffinetly." she said. " Following the example of a senior officer, Deanna, would you like to have dinner tonight?" " Deffinetly." Then a very funny thing happened, the two remaining Picards/ Will's speaking in perfect unison said to the their Beverly's/Deanna's " Ladies, following the example of two dashing young men, would you like to have dinner?" -------------20:00 in Picards quarters-------------- " Beverly, do you remember when I told you I could sing? Remember how you obviously didn't believe me? Well I have two surprises for you. The first is a song
