The story is a figment of my imagination. Crippling Emotions? Amanda floated lazily around the white cloud. Her training was drawing near an end. Ahead of her lay the future, a human concept, foreign to the other members of the continuum. The only being she felt close to was Q. Ha, we are all Q. My Q, was how she referred to him. As if on Que. he appeared before her. "You were thinking about me again, weren't you my dear!" He could be damned annoying at times. So smug and sure of himself. She needed him and he knew it. Look at him hovering in the void, lounging on nothing, acting as if he owned the universe. If only his presence didn't affect her so. When they were together she felt complete in a way she could not describe. Q felt he should be loosing patience with her, she had called to him and was now ignoring him. How dare she ignore ME! But instead he had the urge to hold her. Something was wrong with his Amanda. She seemed so distant, so small, so fragile. He closed the distance between them and placed his hand on her cheek. "Amanda?" Amanda hugged him to her as if he were a stuffed toy. A single tear rolled down her cheek. "Please Q, just hold me for a while." "You are still plagued by those annoying little human emotions aren't you." He said more contempt in his tone than was probably wise. She was now sobbing into his shoulder. Oh yuck, I'm getting wet. Q was responsible for her training. If the others become aware of her current condition he would he ridiculed. I have to get her away from the continuum for a while he thought. But where? Ah yes,and in a flash of light they were gone. Q stood on the hull of the enterprise, Amanda still firmly attached to him. "I have a surprise for you, my dear." "Q we're on the Enterprise!" A small smile graced her lips at the memory of Dr Crusher. "I thought this may be a good place for you to learn to deal with those emotions of yours. You wont be inclined to hang on to them once you have seen, through the eyes of a Q, how humans are crippled by their emotions." Jean-Luc leaned over the table to refill Beverly's coffee cup. She was rather preoccupied this morning. Beverly had not said a dozen words since she came in. She continued to dissect the croissant, flake by flake. "Beverly what's wrong?" "Nothing really, I'm sorry I'm not much company am I." She struggled to pull on a happier face "So, what would you like to talk about?" "I want to talk about you, I want to know what is bothering you." Beverly let out a long sigh, she knew him too well to try to avoid the subject. "I had a message from one of my friends at Starfleet Medical last night, she is getting married." "And you don't approve of this union?" "Of course I do. It's wonderful news. Julia has been alone for many years and now she has found someone to grow old with. Mark is perfect for her, they have so much in common." Beverly's mood was lightening, she became more animated with each word. But Jean-Luc still worried about her somber start to breakfast. He was no Councilor but he knew when Beverly was not being completely honest with him. "So why the long face, what's really bothering you?" Beverly shrugged and shook her head slightly, that familiar response that clearly said, I don't want to talk about it. Normally he would drop the subject, but not this time. She had said her friend had been alone for many years, could this be the problem, was Beverly feeling alone? Jean-Luc moved to stand over her, his hand outstretched. As she took hold he pulled her up into his arms. She hugged him as if he was a teddy bear, a single tear escaped. Amanda felt deeply for Dr Crusher. If Q were not restraining her she would be in the Captain's quarters with them. The waves of loneliness flowing from Beverly were all too familiar. "It is her own fault!" Stated Q. "Q, Dr Crusher has been alone for a very long time and I fail to see how loosing her husband is her own fault." "Her current emotional state has nothing to do with loosing her husband. Red, has been holding Picard at bay for years. No, this is her doing, let her wallow in it." "The Captain is in love with Dr Crusher?" Amanda was stunned. "All these years I have been hounding him to admit his feeling for her. Now that he is finally honest with himself, Crusher decides to play coque." Q was becoming more flustered with each passing minute. Amanda couldn't resist laughing. "Q, you have been playing cupid. Not very successfully though." "Rubbish, I couldn't care less if Jean-Luc were happy or not. I merely thought that life onboard the Enterprise would be a whole lot more entertaining if Picard were attached to Crusher. She really gives him a run for his money at times." Amanda detected the small spark of admiration Q had for Crusher. He always acts as if she is a burr under his saddle. She was beginning to realize Q's words were often opposite to his true feelings. It would seem Q has a few human traits after all. Beverly's sobs had subsided. She lookeed up into the eyes of a very concerned Jean-Luc. All she had to do was reach out to him, let her heart rule for once. Jean-Luc had suggested he wanted to get closer, explore their feelings. But he always stopped just a little bit short. He was so good at commanding this ship. Why couldn't he take full command of their relationship. "Perhaps you should take some time off." he suggested "The last thing I need right now is more time..." Jean-Luc cut her off "I was hoping you would spend the day with me." The doors opened on the holodeck. It was a hot midsummer's morning, the French country side rolled out before them. "When ever I'm feeling depressed I come here." Jean-Luc took Beverly's hand and together they walked through the rows of vines. They continued without words until they reached the stream. Jean-Luc led them to his favorite tree, Beneath it was a blanket and picnic basket. He lay down, tucked one arm under his head and gazed at the widely spaced clouds. Beverly quickly followed his lead. "This is so peaceful." Observed Beverly. "I have been coming here since I was a small boy. On warm days like this Julian, a school friend of mine would join me for some fun." Jean-Luc smiled broadly at the memories letting out a contented sigh. He started to laugh as he remembered their favorite pass time, swimming. Jean-Luc jumped to his feet, startling Beverly. He grabbed her arm and pulled in the direction of the stream. "What are you doing?" She shrieked. "Time for a swim!" Beverly dug her heals into the soft earth stopping all forward motion. "I didn't bring a bathing suit." "You don't need one, Julian and I never did." To emphasize the statement Jean-Luc removed his boots. He looked up with an impish grin as his shirt came off. Beverly's eyes went wide. "You have two choices, get undressed or I'll throw you in clothed." Oh what the hell thought Beverly. She turned her back as he began to remove his trousers, then heard a loud splash. "Turn around, I'll be right in." She said. Beverly stood naked on the bank, Jean-Luc still had is back to her. He was kneeling on the sandy bottom the water lapped at his shoulders. She silently moved into the water and eased up behind him clasping her hands over his eyes. Jean-Luc lunged backwards out of the water pushing her under in one swift movement. She had not been prepared. She came up spluttering. "So you want to play do you?" They splashed back and forth like a couple of school kids. Beverly stood looking down into the water they had stirred the bottom sediments and it was now quite murky. Jean-Luc had been submerged for too long, she was beginning to worry. She shrieked as he sprang up in front of her, grabbed her waist pulling her under. When they broke the surface he still held her around the waist. She pushed her wet locks out of her eyes, she was nose to nose with Jean-Luc. His eyes held a fire. He pulled her closer, kissing her passionately. Q and Amanda sat in the tree over looking the stream. "The Captain does not appear to be crippled by his emotions." Stated Amanda rather amused and a little embarrassed. "Maybe we should leave now." "Leave and miss all the fun, any minute now Red's going to slap his face!" Q was beginning to wonder why the Doctor was taking so long to deliver her rebuff. Then with horror he realized she was encouraging him. "Time to admit you were wrong on two counts, Q." Amanda waved her arms and they were gone. Beverly was surprised by his actions. Jean-Luc was clearly letting his intentions be known. She found herself returning the kiss, she had encouraged him. I have to stop this now she thought. She was trembling. Jean-Luc was caressing her, his hand moving in slow circles towards her breasts. Beverly's mind seemed to be dissociated from her body. She could feel her body responding to his touch, feel the electricity shooting through her, feel her desire building. At the same time her mindscreamed NO. She had been fighting this union so long it had become almost instinctual to resist. Jean-Luc circled his tongue around her nipple. With her last fleeting ounce of control she whispered NO, pushing him back from her. They just looked at each other, both momentarily stunned. Jean-Luc grabbed her arm, once again pulling her to him. "I don't believe you mean that. I love you, Beverly and I know you love me. Your going to have to be a whole lot more convincing to stop me from making love to you right here, right now." Beverly's heart was pounding. Jean-Luc was taking control. She had never dreamed how stimulating lack of control could be. He was kissing her again, his tongue exploring hers. She did not resist. Jean-Luc used one foot to move her feet apart then stepped between them. His hard member throbbed between her legs. Beverly closed her eyes and returned the passionate kiss. She could feel his smile under her lips. Leaning forward he snaked an arm around each of her legs, lifting her up easily in the near weightless environment. Beverly wrapped her arms around his neck as he guided her firmly onto him. She shuddered involuntarily as contact was made. He started with long slow strokes. She sat in his hands content to let him set the pace as he moved her up and down. Jean-Luc was aware of the fingernails biting into his back. The shudders pulsating throughout Beverly's body were growing in frequency. His excitement fed off hers. The movements were smaller now but faster, harder. Beverly threw her head back and screamed, her legs locked around his waist, her body trembling. Her orgasm pushed him over the edge. The water rose neck high as his knees gave out. They held each other, bodies hot in the cool water. "You haven't told me to stop yet." He whispered in her ear. Beverly smiled "And I never will." The end, really
