A Fallen Angel By: Chloe "Magneto" Novak (novakof@netcom.ca) He didn't know how or why it had happened, but he knew it did. He felt as though he now had electricity running through his veins. It happened earlier in the day: he was out on a walk with his wife & daughter, and then, it hit him. He felt suddenly nauseous & dizzy. He fell to the ground, and began to shake. He thought it could have been a seizure, but that seemed unlikely. His hair colour changed, too. From black, to gray, to white. He rose shakily to his feet, assuring Magda and Anya that he was alright, but felt as though he had power surging through his blood. The whole town had seen it. His family had seen it. He had felt it. He then went to work. At the end of the day, 5:00, his employer cheated him out of half of his money. He demanded that his employer give it back. When the employer refused, Erik unknowingly, out of anger, used his powers and threw a crowbar at him. Everyone was startled, but Erik was the most confused. He went home, and saw his house was on fire. He ran in, only to find Magda in a panic, crying, that she only left Anya sleeping long enough to buy what they needed for dinner. She said that when she returned, the house was on fire. Erik immediately put a force field around the hysterical Magda and carried her outside. He was on his way to rescue his daughter, who was screaming for help, when his employer arrived with the police. He pointed to Erik and said, in Ukrainian {There he is, arrest that man!} The police went over to Erik and Magda and restrained them. Erik was screaming that his daughter was still in the house and that they had to rescue her, but his only response came in blows to the head. Anya was still screaming "Papa!!!" hysterically, and then, all was silent. Anyaˇs burnt body fell out the window. Erik and Magda were horrified by this. Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away Now it looks as though they're here to stay Oh, I believe in yesterday. Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be, There's a shadow hanging over me. Oh, yesterday came suddenly. Erik collapsed to his knees and looked teary eyed at his boss who said "you have only yourself to blame". Furious, Erik released an electromagnetic pulse blast and killed everyone, except Magda. She took one last look at Erik, and ran for her life. Erik called out to her to come back and help him bury Anya, but to no avail. Why she had to go I don't know she wouldn't say. I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday. He tried to follow, but could not, as he was too weak. He knelt by Anya, who still looked horrified, even beneath the ashes. He tenderly touched his daughter's face, and she immediately turned to ashes. He formed a metal jar and collected her ashes. He had to work quickly, as it was quite windy that night. He collected all her ashes and put them in the jar. He held the jar to his chest and whispered: I love you. I cannot bear to let you go. I wish it had not happened this way. I wanted to die before you did. He cried over her and Magda for four hours straight. He then took Anya to her favourite tree and buried her beneath it. He placed her favourite flowers, lily of the valley, on top of the grave. He marked on the gravestone: Anya Lensherr, 1948-1952. She died in a fire in the night. She will be missed dearly by her father Erik Magnus Lensherr & mother Magda Maximoff Lensherr. She may be dead, but her spirit lives on................ He could not finish it. He was too sad. He began to cry again. He did not know how long he had been crying when he finally stopped, but he knew it had been a long while. I will miss you Anya, he thought. I will never forget you. I will never stop loving you. Your spirit will always be with me. I will fight for you. But, I still cannot live without my life and cannot die without my soul. I will always and forever miss you. But, one day, some how, some way, I promise you that we will be together, forever. I hope that day will come soon. He slowly got up and walked away with the final words: I love you. Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play. Now I need a place to hide away. Oh, I believe in yesterday. Mm mm mm mm mm. The End.
