Title: Computer Problems Author: Northlight email: uzenet@videotron.ca Summary: Yes, once again, I'm using good ol' Charles to comment on my computer problems. It was either that, or start gnawing at something that should not be gnawed upon :) Disclaimer: Marvel owns the world. I own the bad tempered computer. Date: June 29, 1999 *** Charles looked at his watch. 2:14. He looked at the computer's clock. 10:12. Back to his watch. Back to the screen. Yes, it certainly appeared that his computer, barely past it's second year, was frozen. _Again_. Magneto was less trying than the computer. Wolverine was more easy to manage than the computer. Convincing the general population that mutants did indeed have as much right as they to draw in air was an easier task than getting his computer to work. The computer hated him, Charles decided reasonably. It didn't fail for anyone else with the alarming frequency that it did for him. It froze while pages were loading. It froze while he was scrolling. It had frozen while he was _typing_. It froze when he force shut Netscape, and it froze when he shut down the computer. _That_ annoyed him greatly. He cautiously nudged at the mouse, watching the black arrow zoom across the screen. Taking control, he positioned it over the stop button, clicking on it calmly, if futilely. Nothing happened. Other than his annoyance building. He clicked harder. Nothing happened. Deep breath. He was a mature, intelligent, powerful man. He would not loose control to the single most frustrating piece of equipment that he had ever encountered. Deep breath. In. Out. Calm. Mature. Reasonable. *click* *click**click* *clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick* Calm. Mature. Reasonable. And he was about to do what any clam, mature, reasonable person who was confronted with such a problem would do. He was going to smack at the frozen, unmoving screen until he knocked some sense into it or until he was dragged away from it, whatever came first. At the moment, he didn't care -- as long as he got a few good blows in first. Utterly reasonable. Unquestionably mature. Calm... well, maybe not. By this point, it would be a mercy killing. And satisfying. Immensely satisfying. Beyond satisfying. ~End~ Yes, I'm having computer problems :( And I took it with less grace than did poor Xavier. It's been _months_, and not a day goes by when the bloody piece of useless garbage doesn't freeze -- and it does so when I'm merely scrolling half the time. And the great majority of the time, it freezes on shutdown. I've left it sitting there for over five hours, only to find that the bloody thing still hasn't shut down. I think... I think it's driving me crazy. Really. *sob* I love it so much! Why is it treating me this way?! Okay, that's it. Venting done.
