A Dark And Angry God Arises

Tatooine faded behind them. He was no longer a slave.

Anakin sighed with contentment. He wasn't a slave anymore, and it was good. Of course, his mother was still a slave, which wasn't particularly good and did raise some questions about the intentions and supposed goodness of the Jedi who had "rescued" him.

He'd had a lot of experience with slavers and slave-owners in his brief life, and he knew what they were looking for in him. Not to mention the warnings his mother had given him. She didn't know who his father was, and Anakin knew why.

Serving as a prostitute didn't exactly allow one much knowledge of who fathered any given child.

And Anakin had a very bad feeling about all this.

Anakin looked at Qui-Gon. Strong, large, masculine. And he already had a boy by his side, one that looked a bit long-in-the-tooth. Yes, Anakin had a very good idea why Qui-Gon Jinn had wanted him. Time to replace the elder boy with a newer, younger toy.

And Anakin was not about to let that happen.

He knew better. He wasn't going to be a slave again.

The meeting on Coruscant with the Jedi Council convinced Anakin that he'd been right. The Jedi "master" -- and was that title ever a laugh, what a clever cover-up for the organization's real purpose -- wanted him to serve as his "padawan", for which read "sex slave", and was dumping the other kid.

Anakin felt a brief moment's pity for the cast-off, then let it go. He didn't really care about anyone's fate but his own. Slavery taught you about the dangers of caring.

And not caring made life a lot simpler.

He'd had a brief moment's fear when speaking to the small yellow-greenish thing. Ending up as a sex slave to that certainly didn't do anything for him. At least the Qui-Gon fellow was presumably fully human.

The trip to Naboo convinced Anakin that he needed to take action. That Obi-Wan creature was sucking up to his former master, and Anakin liked the idea of a rival even less than he liked the idea of being a slave again. He would have to do something.

Unfortunately, his escape from Naboo was prevented by a ship getting in his way. Stupid autopilot. At least he'd gotten to blow the ship up. Killing other lifeforms was always pleasant.

When he'd returned to Naboo, he'd found that Qui-Gon was dead. A hopeful thing. And then they'd given him into the custody of the other boy, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Anakin controlled his features to show the emotions that they expected him to show, but inwardly, he was gleeful. His 'master' dead, an easily manipulated boy in charge of him, and he was on a lovely planet. The Senator was his ticket off and his way to power, Anakin knew that immediately.

But before he went... that Amidala was some piece of ass.
